Back pain, cramps and clotty bleeding

I’m experiencing severe cramping, back pain and bleeding.

I think it’s my period because it all happened at the same time.

My back is really sore, the bleeding is clotty and just drips out, and when I press down on my abdomen it hurts.

Is this normal?

It’s common for a woman to see some blood clots and experience some cramping during her period. This cramping can also cause lower back, abdominal or pelvic discomfort.

However, severe menstrual cramping or large amounts of blood clots should be checked by a healthcare professional.

If you’re concerned about the severity of your cramps and bleeding, please visit a Peel Public Health Healthy Sexuality Clinic, a walk-in clinic, or your family doctor for an examination.
